Looking for a bit of a hill run challenge?…

Up one of the 6,000+ ft mountains of the Blue Ridge?…

The highest road race finish in the Southeast?…

Welcome to the Top of The South!

… A bit less than a half marathon in distance (10.8 miles), but with lots of uphill as you race from Roan Mountain State Park, Tennessee to the finish at the Rhododendron Gardens at the near summit of Roan Mountain in North Carolina. The first 1.6 miles will have 184 ft of elevation gain (2816 ft at the Start to 3000 ft at 1.6 miles), as the course winds its way through Roan Mountain State Park. In the final 9 miles, you’ll enjoy more than 3200 ft of gain as you move to the finish at 6210 ft. The summit of Roan is 6285 ft. So, by our calculations, you’ll run 10.8 miles, with 3394 ft of elevation gain (314 ft/mile) up one of the 6,000 ft mountains on Tennessee and North Carolina border.   To put this race in perspective, according to our research, Top of The South is the highest elevation road race finish in the Southeast USA…and we hate to admit it, but the 2nd highest finish East of the Mississippi River.

Space is limited, so if you’re interested, dig deeper into our website for all the details.  Oh…for extra incentive to register early, we’re issuing a limited 150 spectator parking passes for the finish line at the top.
